Sing for the Moment ( English " Sing for the moment " ) is a song by the American rapper Eminem . The song is the fourth single from his fourth studio album The Eminem Show and was released on March 31, 2003. The song is also featured on Eminem's best-of album Curtain Call: The Hits .

content

The first verse is about domestic violence and broken family relationships. A child is hit by his stepfather, lets his emotions run free and strikes back. Then it takes refuge in the music. In the chorus sung it says that you should sing now, at this moment, because life may be over tomorrow. The second verse refers to the contrasts in a star's life and alludes to Eminem's trial for illicit gun possession. For example, the mixed role of the media is mentioned, which is out for scandals by all means. It also deals with the absurdity of children listening carefully to his music and his going platinum in the music industry while others try to put Eminem in jail and condemn his lyrics. Eminem asks how he can be a criminal while raising his baby daughter at the same time. The third verse highlights the influence music has on the audience, but also warns that a song alone cannot load a pistol. Eminem admits that it goes over the top a lot to keep people entertained and increase sales. But above all he raps to do something good for the children who have no perspective.

Production and sample

Eminem produced the beat of Sing for the Moment in collaboration with Jeff Bass , who served as co-producer. A sample of the song Dream On by the rock band Aerosmith was used. The chorus is sung by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry plays the guitar solo at the end of the song. The song was recorded in Eminem's house and in the 54Sound studio.
