Bass Brothers

The Bass Brothers are an American music producer duo from Detroit , Michigan , consisting of the brothers Jeff and Mark Bass. They gained notoriety mainly through working with rap star Eminem before and at the beginning of his career. They own the independent labels FBT Productions, Web Entertainment and Mashin 'Duck Records.

Career

The Bass Brothers' career began in 1984 when they collaborated with the musician Dreamboy. They also worked with the artist George Clinton from the late 1980s. In 1992 they signed the rapper Eminem to their label FBT Productions and formed with him the rap crew Bassmint Productions, whose other members were Proof , Chaos Kid, Manics and DJ Buttafingas. The group later renamed itself to Soul Intent. Together with Eminem they produced his debut album Infinite , which was released in 1996 in an edition of 500 cassettes and 250 vinyl records on their label Web Entertainment. The Bass Brothers also acted as executive producer under the name FBT Productions on the production of the Slim Shady EP the following year .

As the main producer alongside Dr. Dre on Eminem's second album The Slim Shady LP , they played a significant part in his breakthrough. Even after the rise of the rapper, they worked on the upcoming globally successful albums The Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show , as well as on D12 's debut album Devils Night . In addition to being a producer, they can also be heard on some of the album's skits.

Sometimes the brothers also worked alone. Jeff Bass was involved in the text and production of Eminem's song Lose Yourself . The song received an Oscar for the best song , the songwriters and thus Jeff Bass also received the Grammy Award for Best Rap Song .

In 2004 the Bass Brothers opened FBT Studios in Ferndale, Michigan, which can be rented for recording purposes.
