Infinite ( English for: " infinite ", " limitless ") is the first solo album by the US rapper Eminem . It was released on November 12, 1996 on the Detroit independent label Web Entertainment.

History of origin

After several years of only recording demo tracks with the help of the Bass Brothers , Eminem was ready to release his first professional album. As a result, Infinite was written and recorded in 1995. Shortly before the album was released, the rapper changed his name from M&M to Eminem. Due to the artist's low level of awareness at the time, only 1,000 copies were made, which at the time didn't sell well, but are coveted collector's items today.

content

In contrast to later releases by Eminem, Infinite is characterized by relatively harmless lyrics and a consistently positive message - among other things because the rapper hoped to be played on local radio stations.

Production and samples

All of the songs on the album were produced by Eminem's friend and D12 member Kon Artis , who goes on to produce under his real name Denaun Porter, with the Bass Brothers serving as executive producers . DJ Head is only responsible for the production of the WEGO Interlude ski . Eminem himself was also involved in the production.

There are four samples on the album. Open Mic contains elements of Gimme Your Love by Curtis Mayfield , Backstabber samples Eminem's own song Fuckin 'Backstabber and Jealousy Woes II contains samples of Jealous by LL Cool J and The World Is Yours by Nas .

Cover design

The cover of Infinite is kept very simple. It only consists of the lettering Eminem (in the upper part) and Infinite (in the lower part) on a black background. A white line runs horizontally in the middle and white spots can be seen here and there.

Guest Posts

In addition to Eminem, six of the ten songs feature other artists, all of whom come from the Detroit underground. The rapper Eye-Kyu appears on the songs It's OK and 313 . Three and Kon Artis , who also worked on Searchin ' and Backstabber , are represented at Maxine . The D12 -member Kuniva and the rapper Thyme are on open mic to hear while Proof and DJ Head in the Skit WEGO Interlude have a guest appearance. Eminem also works on Searchin ' with singer Angela Workman.
