'Till I Collapse (English for: " Until I break down ") is a song by the American rapper Eminem , in which the chorus is sung by the rapper and singer Nate Dogg . The song is featured on Eminem's fourth studio album, The Eminem Show , which was released in 2002.

content

The song mostly revolves around Eminem's status as a rap superstar and what gives him the strength to continue on his way - despite all the critics. In the spoken intro of the piece, the rapper says that you have to find your inner strength and thus get the motivation to continue, then it doesn't matter how badly you fall. Then the first rap verse begins, in which Eminem reports that he is not hip-hop , but also not just Eminem and about the magic of his music that triggers unconscious thoughts in the listener. The second verse relates to seizing the moment, as long as you are in the spotlight and have the attention of as many listeners as possible, in order to get the most out of your music. Eminem also names a list of rappers who he thinks are above him in the music business: Redman , Jay-Z , 2Pac , Biggie , André 3000 , Jadakiss , Kurupt , Nas . The third and final verse denounces that many critics weigh every single word on the gold scales and that Eminem may never get the respect he thinks he deserves. However, he'll keep rapping because he's addicted to it and the platinum awards will attest to his accomplishment.

production

Eminem produced the beat for the song himself. 'Till I Collapse was recorded in Eminem's house and in the 54Sound studio.

The beat contains a sample of the song We Will Rock You by the British rock band Queen .

Chart successes

Although 'Till I Collapse was never released as a single, it entered the UK charts at number 73 for a week due to downloads in 2009. One of the reasons for this was that the song was used in a trailer for the computer game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 , which was released at the time. It was also 'Till I Collapse in September 2011 at the trailer for the movie Real Steel heard.
