Sommerberg is a village in the municipality of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

The place is in the southwest of the city of Wipperfürth on the city limits to Kürten near the federal highway 506 , which was an important military route between Cologne and Dortmund in the Middle Ages . The place is on the watershed between the Große Dhünn and the Kürtener Sülz . The Sülzüberleitung passes underground to the west of the village. A tributary of the Burgheimer Bach, which flows into the Kürtener Sülz, rises on the southern edge of the village . Neighboring towns are Grunewald , Hamböcken , and the towns of Dicke and Laudenberg , which are part of Kürten .

The place belongs to the municipal electoral district 160 and thus to the electoral district Wipperfeld .

history

In 1548 the place is mentioned for the first time under the name "zom Sommerberche" in the lists of the Bergisch tension and barge services. The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 already uses the place name Sommerberg and shows three separate floor plans on a delimited courtyard.
