Unterthier is a village in the municipality of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Unterthier is located in the southwest of the city of Wipperfürth. The settlement area of ​​the village borders directly on the neighboring town of Thier . A tributary of the Flosbach rises in the local area . Neighboring towns are Thier, Niederflosbach and Ballsiefen .

The place belongs to the electoral district 150 and thus to the district of Thier .

history

In 1443 the place was mentioned for the first time under the name "Tire" in an income and rights list of the Cologne Apostelstifts. A deed of foundation from 1686 shows that a "Thierer Kirchlein" under the name "Heyligen hüttengen" stood in a valley in Unterthier. This place of prayer was later relocated to what is now known as the Kapellenberg in Oberthier because of the frequent flooding. The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows two courtyards in Unterthier and names them "Thier" . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1825 shows three enclosed courtyards with eleven separate floor plans in the Unterthier settlement area. The place name on this map is "Thier" . In the Prussian premiere from 1840, the village is named “Unt. Thier ” . The topographic maps from 1955 onwards show the progressive expansion of the village towards Ballsiefen.

A wayside cross from 1872 and a picture stock from 1851 made of sandstone are in the Unterthier area.
