Location of Wasserfuhr in Wipperfürth

Wasserfuhr is a town in Wipperfürth in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

The village is located in the northeast of Wipperfürth in the valley of the Hönnige on the L284 state road . Neighboring towns are Biesenbach , Schleise that at Kupferberg preferred location Hammer , Dörpinghausen and Dievesherweg .

At the northern edge of the village, the Hönnige is dammed up to the Mühlenteich water transport . From here, water is directed into the Schevelinger Dam through an underground tunnel belonging to the Bever block . The Schleise (Hönnige) and the Dörpinghausener Bach flow into the Hönnige southwest of the village.

Politically, the place is represented by the direct candidate of the constituency 12.1 (121) Kupferberg in the council of the city of Wipperfürth.

history

In 1443, Wasserfuhr was first mentioned in "Income and rights of the Cologne Apostelstift" with the place name "Waterfort" . The Topographia Ducatus Montani map from 1715 shows a courtyard and a mill and describes this courtyard as “Wasserfuhr” . The topographical photograph of the Rhineland from 1825 shows “Waterfuhr” with a delimited courtyard and six individual building floor plans. Up until 1913 the topographic maps in Wasserfuhr show a mill symbol. The mill pond with its upper weir and the upper ditch has been preserved to this day.

From 1910 to 1960 the railway line fromschlag to Wipperfürth ran through the village. This railway line branched off from the Wippertalbahn at Wipperfürth station and connected to the Wuppertalbahn when it stopped . The station, named after the village, was 900 meters to the southwest, at the level of the village of Biesenbach. An industrial company settled on the former railway site.

The hiking trails A1, A2, A3, X3: Talsperrenweg and the Wipperfürther Rundweg , signposted by SGV , lead through the village. An access path with the hiking sign "White square with black frame" leads from the Wipperfürth bus station to Wasserfuhr.
