Schwelmersiepen is a court of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Schwelmersiepen is located in the northeast of Wipperfürth on the city limits of Halver and Wipperfürth. Neighboring places are Ober- and Untergraben , Auf der Bever , Kahlenberg and Kottmannshausen . To the west of the village is the desert sunshine. The Böckersiepen and Schwelmersiepen flow into the Bever near Schwelmersiepen .

The Hofschaft can be reached from the Wipperfürth urban area via the district roads K13 and K3. From the K3 turn into Schwenke in the direction of “Auf der Bever”.

In the map topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1825 a court with the name Schwelmersiepen is shown.

The road leading from “Auf der Bever” to Schwelmersiepen is of early medieval origin. It was part of a path leading from Hohenplanken via Obergraben and Kottmannshausen to Hückeswagen .

Hiking trails

Two hiking trails signposted by the Sauerland Mountain Association lead through the farm. The circular routes are marked with the A2 and A5 hiking signs and start and finish at the hiking car park in the village of Wipperfürth- Egen, 2.4 km away .
