Dohrgaul
Dohrgaul is a place of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergischer Kreis in southern North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ) within the administrative district of Cologne . The village belongs to the district of Agathaberg , is located at an altitude of 330 m above sea level. NHN and has about 250 inhabitants.
Location and description
Dohrgaul is approx. 5 km southeast of Wipperfürth on the L302 road between Wipperfürth and Frielingsdorf . The place is on the Höhenstraße to Marienheide and two other roads lead to Ohl and Agathaberg .
The Gaulbach stream flows north . The Steinberg lies to the south at 401 m above sea level.
history
In 1443 the place was mentioned for the first time in a list of the “Income and rights of the Cologne Apostle Foundation”.
The spelling of the first mention is Goel.
The village of Dohrgaul developed from a rural estate, around which a kind of handicraft and trade center settled in the middle of the 19th century .
This is how blacksmiths , cartwright shops , joineries , cobblers and grocery stores came into being . At that time, a water-powered mill on the Gaulbach processed the grain supplied and supplied the farmers and bakeries in the area with flour . After 1900, electricity was obtained from the mill pond with the help of a water wheel . There was a schnapps distillery on the grounds of the Dohrgaul farm .
