Frösseln is a village in the municipality of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

The village is located in the southwest of the city of Wipperfürth on the city limits to Kürten near the federal highway 506 , which was an important military route between Cologne and Dortmund in the Middle Ages . The village lies on the watershed between the Große Dhünn and the Kürtener Sülz . The Sülzüberleitung passes underground to the west of the village. Neighboring towns are Hüffen , Ente , Grunewald and the town of Laudenberg, which belongs to Kürten .

The village belongs to electoral district 160 and thus to the electoral district of Wipperfeld .

history

In 1715 the place is listed on the Topographia Ducatus Montani with three individual courtyards under the name "Friseln" . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 already uses the place name Frösseln and shows four separate floor plans in the enclosed courtyard.
