Kunigunde von Bernsau, widow of Johann Kreuwel von Gimborn, donated the farm to the monastery in Seligenthal. The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows a courtyard and designates it with "birch trees" . The topographical map of the Rhineland from 1825 shows birch trees in a delimited courtyard with three individual building plans. From the topographic map from 1894 to 1896, the place name is Bergesbirken.

The sandstone crossroads at the edge of a meadow dates from 1882 . Tradition has it that lightning struck a cart at the place of the cross. The fact that the coachman survived the natural event was the reason for the erection of the cross.
