Niederwipper is a village in Wipperfürth in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Niederwipper is located in the east of Wipperfürth on the federal road 237 in the valley of the Wupper river, right next to the neighboring residential area Neuenherweg , with which it has now grown into a district. Strictly speaking, the Sacred Heart Chapel attributed to the location is also located in the Neuenherweg residential area .

Other neighboring towns are Egerpohl , Lendringhausen , Leuchtenbirken and Dievesherweg . The Kamper Delle and the Neuenherweger Bach with its Niederwippersiefen tributary flow into the Wupper in the area of ​​the village.

In the historical topographical map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715, four courtyards are listed under the place name of Wipper . The topographic map of the Rhineland from 1825 shows eight different building floor plans in three separate delimitations. Neuenherweg, to the east, was named Herweg on the same map .

The Prussian new recording from 1894 to 1896 shows Ndr-Wipper and Neuenherweg and a mill symbol. To the northwest of it, this map shows two building floor plans labeled School . The topographic maps up to 1979 still show Niederwipper, Neuenherweg and the mill symbol, the more recent maps then show the place name Niederwipper for the entire local area. The mill in Niederwipper, which was no longer shown on the maps after 1979, could have been a grain or powder mill .
