Herweg is a district of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Herweg is located in western Wipperfürth in the Wipperfeld district near the federal highway 506 between Wipperfürth and Wipperfeld. A tributary of the Schwarzenbach rises in the east of the village . An agricultural company forms the core of the village. Neighboring places are Grüterich , Schniffelshöh and Kaplansherweg .

Politically, the place is represented by the direct candidate of the constituency 7.1 (071) southwestern urban area in the council of the city of Wipperfürth.

history

In 1443 the place is mentioned for the first time under the name "Herweghe" in an income and rights list of the Cologne Apostelstift. The first documented mention of Herweg is considered uncertain, as there are four places with -herweg in their name in Wipperfürth. The Topographia Ducatus Montani map from 1715 shows two courtyards and names them “Herweg” . The topographical recording of the Rhineland from 1825 shows five separate floor plans under the name "Herweg" in the enclosed courtyard . In the Prussian first recording from 1840 the place name is "Auf Herweg" . From the topographical map of the years 1894 to 1896, the place name Herweg is used today.
