Vossebrechen is a village of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

The village is located north of Wipperfürth on the watershed between the Neyetalsperre and the Bevertalsperre . Neighboring places are reading books , sticks , forests and Gardeweg . Through the village in the flowing Neye II opens Vossebrechener Bach .

Politically, the place is represented by the direct candidate from electoral district 17.2 (172) Egen in the council of the city of Wipperfürth.

history

Around 1150, Vossebrechen was first mentioned under the name "Fussenbrecht" as the property of the Werden monastery . The Topographia Ducatus Montani map from 1715 shows two farms and names them "Vossenbrecken" . From the Prussian first recording from 1840 to 1844 the name "Vossebrechen" , which is common today, is used.

The county road K13, which passes to the west, had its origins in prehistoric times (Neolithic Age), even if only as a “trampling path and ancient path”. In the Saxon-Franconian period from the 7th century onwards, it gained importance in long-distance traffic, which was only reduced to regional importance in the 18th century.

The circular hiking trail A5, signposted by SGV , the main hiking trail X3 Talsperrenweg and the Halveraner Rundweg lead at a distance of 150 m on the eastern edge of the village through the valley of the Neye II past Vossebrechen.
