Kotten is a village in Wipperfürth in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).
Location and description
Kotten is located in the north of Wipperfürth on the city limits to Radevormwald on the district road K11. Neighboring towns are Radevormwald- Hönde , Bruch , Berge and Levenhausen . The Hönder Bach , which rises in the northwest near Hönde, flows through the village and flows into the Levenhausen Siepen on the southern edge of the village . The Moorbach flows past the eastern edge of the village. On the right branch of this brook, 100 meters south-east of the village, there is a water mill with a mill pond.
Politically, the place is represented by the direct candidate from electoral district 17.2 (172) Egen in the council of the city of Wipperfürth.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1548. "Heinrich tho dem Koten" is mentioned in the list of "Bergische Spann- und Schüppendienste". In 1715 the Topographia Ducatus Montani shows a courtyard and names it "Koten". From the Prussian first recording from 1840 to 1843 the place name "Kotten" is used.
