Location of Sanderhöhe in Wipperfürth

Sanderhöhe is a district of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

The district is located north of Wipperfürth, separated from the center by the Wupper . The district has a western and an eastern settlement area. Neighboring districts are Wolfsiepen, Ommer , Berghof , Voßkuhle and Leiersmühle . In the eastern settlement area, the Ommer Siepen flows into the Berghofer Bach , which then flows into the Wupper after 100 meters.

Politically, the place is represented by the direct candidates of the electoral district 02 (020) Sanderhöhe and Wolfsiepen in the council of the city of Wipperfürth.

history

The topographical map from 1894 to 1896 ( Prussian New Admission ) shows, for the first time, building floor plans in the area of the Sanderhöhe within enclosed courtyards. In 1901 a pavilion on the way to Sonnenschein offered a view of the city of Wipperfürth. At that time it was a symbol of the city of Wipperfürth. In the topographic map of 1927, the place of the pavilion is marked with the designation "Pav" .

The western settlement area emerged in the 1950s as a reaction to the acute housing shortage after the Second World War. The decision to expel the German population from their East European and East German residential areas at the Potsdam Conference resulted in a sharp increase in the population in the then still independent communities of Wipperfürth, Klüppelberg and Wipperfeld through the allocation of people by the Ministry of Social Affairs in Düsseldorf. The housing market that existed up to that point could neither cover the skyrocketing demand for living space nor produce it on its own. Together with citizens and the church, the political communities organized numerous new building projects and opened up new settlement areas.

bus connections

The Wipperfürth bus station Surgères-Platz (VRS / OVAG) provides a connection to local public transport.
