coat of arms

Description : On a silver background, the Förster coat of arms shows a horse's head bridled with a golden bridle and wearing a green birch wreath decorated with a red and white ribbon around its neck.

The traditional wreath riding takes place in Förste every year on Pentecost Sunday . There are no documents about the creation. According to private chronicles, the custom is said to date back to the time of the Saxon King Heinrich I and at that time had the purpose of training the villagers in arms and riding so that they could protect themselves against the Hungarian invasions . Only local riders on draft horses are allowed to participate in this wreath ride. The winner of this riding receives a large birch wreath as an external sign, which is worn around the neck of the horse during the subsequent historical acts. Riding is only permitted with a bridle and without a saddle.

The Förster coat of arms was approved and awarded by the responsible state authority in 1956. Rudi Hattenbauer, the former forester, made a particular contribution to the design and presentation of the coat of arms.
