Ührde (also Stadtdorf Uehrde ) is a village in the southwestern Harz foreland and district of the city Osterode am Harz in the district of Göttingen in southern Lower Saxony , Germany .

history

City village Uehrde

Ührde was probably founded well before the 12th century. Ührde is mentioned in a document relatively late, most likely due to long-term, undisputed possession, namely 1105 for the first time as Utheriche , as Dietrich III. von Katlenburg converted the Katlenburg into a monastery and donated a hoof to it in Ührde. From the possession of the Counts of Katlenburg, Ührde came by inheritance to the Welfs, who gave a fief in Ührde to the brothers Basilius and Bruning von Wollershausen . The village later came into the possession of the principality of Grubenhagen , who gave it to the Lords of Medenheim as a fief in the early 15th century . On January 6, 1447, Beate von Mutzeval, Ludof von Medenheim's widow, sold the village of Uderde to the city of Osterode. Since then, Ührde has been called the “town village”. A school was founded in 1644 and existed until 1956. Large parts of the village were destroyed in a major fire in 1770.

chapel

There has been evidence of a church in the village since 1317, when a Herr Volkmar , priest in Ührde, is named as a witness in a document. Already in the 13th century there is said to have been a plebanus Thidericus de Uderde ; this pastor Dietrich von Ührde would be the first evidence of the noble family of those von Ührde . In 1552 today's chapel was rebuilt. It also owes its current appearance to further renovations in the 17th century; the chapel belongs to the parish of St. Aegidien in Osterode, it is located in the Harzer Land parish .

politics

The local coat of arms shows a red rose with five outer, middle and inner calyx flowers and a point-shaped lump. "Hermann von Uderde" had used it on May 7, 1311 as a seal motif on his certificate; Hermann's seal, however, had six flowers each.

Due to its small number of inhabitants, Ührde is a village with a mayor and therefore does not have its own local council.

Attractions

Center of the town village

There are numerous listed buildings throughout the village. These include a shepherd's house, the origins of which date back to the early 17th century, a tithe barn built in 1741 , a Schulzenhaus, a manor barn built around 1800, the Sindram inn, which has been running since 1876, and the former schoolhouse from the 17th century. The museum is housed in a half-timbered house.

The nature reserve " Gipskarstlandschaft bei Ührde " is not far from the village . The karst hiking trail passes here.

Volunteer firefighter

The Ührde volunteer fire brigade , which existed until December 31, 2015 , has only been acting as a fire fighting group for the volunteer fire brigade in the neighboring village of Schwiegershausen since January 1, 2016 . Vehicles, fire station and crew will remain in the town village. The reason for the dissolution is that the minimum thickness is not reached.
