Niederkemmerich is a village in Wipperfürth in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ). The village belongs to the district Agathaberg and lies at an altitude of 238 to 259  m above sea level. NN .

Location and description

Niederkemmerich has 45 registered residents (as of October 16, 2009) and is located in southern Wipperfürth on Landstrasse  302 between Dohrgaul and Frielingsdorf .

The town center includes house numbers 2 to 13, house number 1 is an Aussiedlerhof and is located about 400 m from the town center in the direction of Klemenseichen .

Neighboring towns are Oberkemmerich , Klemenseichen , Bühlstahl , Dörrenbach and Vordermühle .

The Lindlar Sülz brook flows southeast of Niederkemmerich .

Like many other towns in the area, Niederkemmerich is not connected to the municipal drinking water network, but has its own water association . The water for the place is obtained in a deep well located southeast in the forest.

history

In 1378 the place was mentioned for the first time as Kemeringe , namely "Hartmannus de Kemeringe, Schöffe in Wipperfürth, acts as a witness for a pension."

Restaurant and horse station

In 1848 a farmhouse was built on the current Landstrasse 302, which after completion in 1850 also served as a restaurant, grocery store and horse station. The restaurant was named "Zum Durtsack", where "Durt" was an old name for weeds in grain.

Carriages ran between the Engelskirchen and Wipperfürth train stations , passing the restaurant on their way and harnessing their horses here.

After changing hands in 1896 and 1916, the restaurant was renamed "Zum Rucksack". In the course of the motorization, the horse station was closed around 1920, and later the grocery store was also discontinued. The restaurant itself was operated continuously until 1995. Today the building is used as an apartment.
