Sassenbach is a village in the municipality of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

The place is in the south of the city of Wipperfürth. The Sassenbach, which flows through the village, rises 200 meters to the west . Neighboring towns are Wegerhof , Herzhof , Niedergaul , Kleinscherkenbach Roppersthal and Poshof .

Politically, Sassenbach is represented in the council of the city of Wipperfürth by the direct candidate of the electoral district 7.2 (072) southeast urban area.

history

In 1443 the place is mentioned for the first time under the name "Sassenbeke" in an income and rights list of the Cologne Apostelstifts. The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows three farms and names them "Sasenbeck" . The topographical recording of the Rhineland from 1825 shows four separate floor plans on a delimited courtyard under the name "Sassenbek" . In the Prussian first recording from 1840 to 1844 the spelling “Sassenbeck” is used . From the topographic map from 1894 to 1896, the place name Sassenbach, which is common today, is used.

A stone memorial cross in the local area dates from 1909 . A wooden cross also in the village was erected in 1998.
