Dievesherweg is a small town in Wipperfürth in the Oberbergisches Kreis in southern North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ) within the administrative district of Cologne .

Location and description

Dievesherweg is located in the eastern urban area of ​​Wipperfürth on a ridge up to 380 m high between Wipper and Hönnigetal. The settlement is on a road that connects the villages of Niederwipper and Wasserfuhr. The place consists mainly of single-family houses and a few farms. Neighboring towns are Niederwipper , Neuenhaus , Biesenbach and Wasserfuhr .

Politically, the place is represented by the direct candidate of the constituency 12.2 (122) Niederwipper in the council of the city of Wipperfürth.

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1443. "Herweghe" is mentioned in lists of the income and rights of the Cologne Apostle monastery . The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows the farm "Herweg" northeast of Niederwipper . In the map of Prussian first recording from 1840 to 1844, the designation "Dieves Herwege" is used for the first time .

A medieval old street , also known as Heerweg (hence the place name), ran through Dievesherweg from Cologne via the Wipperfürth ford near Leiersmühle and Halver to Hellweg near Dortmund .
