Niederdhünn is a village in the municipality of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

The place is located in the southwest of the city of Wipperfürth near the city limits of Hückeswagen on the river Große Dhünn . At Niederdhünn, the Niederdhünner Bach , the Hardtbach , the Hügelbach , the Kohlsiefen and the Pangsiefen flow into the Große Dhünn. Neighboring towns are Rautzenberg , Arnsberg , Lamsfuß , Niederburghof , Odenholl and Odenhollermühle .

The place belongs to the municipal electoral district 160 and thus to the constituency 16 Wipperfeld .

history

The first documented mention of Dhünn as "Dune" in 1189 is uncertain, as there are other places called Dhünn ( Wermelskirchen-Dhünn , Wipperfürth-Dhünn ) in the vicinity. The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows a courtyard and describes it as “thin” . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 shows five separate, enclosed courtyards under the name “Hof Dhünn” . In the Prussian first recording from 1840 the place name is "Nd.Dhünn" .
