Mehmet Kara (born November 21, 1983 in Werne ) is a Turkish football player . He has been playing for Lüner SV since July 2019 .

Career

From his youth club SuS Oberaden Kara moved to SV Holzwickede and after a season in the Westphalian national league to Gaziantep , where he first played for Büyükşehir Belediyespor in the TFF 2nd Lig . After half a year he came to Gaziantepspor , for which he played three times in the Süper Lig in the 2003/04 season. As a result of a cruciate ligament rupture , he had to take a year off. Since he was not paid despite the current contract, he returned to Germany and spent a few months in the training camp of the association of contract footballers in 2006 . At the beginning of 2007, the midfield all-rounder joined Hammer SpVg with a guest player permit . There Kara made his debut at the beginning of the second half of the then fourth-highest division Oberliga Westfalen on the 18th matchday against his future club Preußen Münster. After only six months, Kara moved to the cathedral city of Münster for the 2007/08 season . Due to the new 3rd division , which had been introduced at the beginning of the season, Preußen Münster remained in the fourth division despite winning the Oberliga Westfalen in 2008, which was now formed by the three regional leagues North, West and South. Kara played for the new regional league team from Münster in the team's favorite 4-2-3-1 system mostly in the back three in the outer positions or was used in the middle as a playmaker .

In addition to appearances in the Oberliga Westfalen and Regionalliga West, Kara has also played in the DFB Cup . There he qualified with SC Preußen Münster in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and met VfL Bochum , Hertha BSC and most recently VfL Wolfsburg in the first main round .

In the 2010/11 season, Mehmet Kara and his club Preußen Münster succeeded in making the long-awaited promotion to the 3rd league perfect, with which he also announced his departure from the cathedral city. With a heavy heart, the crowd favorite decided to switch to the 2nd Bundesliga for the East Westphalian SC Paderborn 07 for the 2011/12 season in order to look for the challenge in higher-class football there again. On July 17, 2011 Kara made his debut in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2-1 away win of his team against Hansa Rostock .

In the summer of 2012 he moved to the Turkish first division club Gençlerbirliği Ankara . There, however, he was only used in seven games and after his contract termination, he moved back to his old club Preußen Münster in January 2013 . Here he was initially committed to 2015, but Kara extended it prematurely to 2018. After his contract ended, he joined the upper division Rot Weiß Ahlen in July 2018.
