Jörgensmühle is a village in the municipality of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Jörgensmühle is located southwest of Wipperfürth in the valley of the Kürtener Sülz on the L286 state road . Neighboring towns are Gerhardsfeld , Berghausen , Büchel and Alfen .

The place belongs to the electoral district 150 and thus to the district of Thier .

history

In 1443 the place is mentioned for the first time under the name “to der Molen” in an income and rights list of the Cologne Apostelstift. The Topographia Ducatus Montani map from 1715 shows two courtyards and names them “Jürgensmühl” . The topographical photograph of the Rhineland from 1825 shows a mill symbol and five separate floor plans in the enclosed courtyard. The place name on this map is "Gurgens M." . From the topographic map from 1894 to 1896, the name Jörgensmühle is used.

The sandstone crossroads in the local area dates from 1776 .
