Benninghausen is a village in the municipality of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

The place is in the southeast of the city of Wipperfürth on the city limits to Lindlar on a ridge between the brooks Holler Siepen and the Lindlarer Sülz . Neighboring towns are Leiberg , Bengelshagen , Niederholl and Schnipperinger Mühle .

The place belongs to the municipal electoral district 142 and thus to the district Dohrgaul .

history

Around 1400 the place was first mentioned under the name "Benninghusen". The name "Johannes Benninghusen de Wipperde" is written down in a directory from that time. The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows four courtyards and designates them with "Benighusen". In the Prussian first recording from 1840 the place name is "Beninghausen". From the topographic map of the years 1894 to 1896, the place name Benninghausen, which is commonly used today, is used.
