Leiberg is a village in the municipality of Marienheide in the Oberbergisches Kreis , North Rhine-Westphalia .

Location and description

The place is about 4.7 km in a south-westerly direction from the main town. The Lindlarer Sülz flows past north of the village in the valley .

history

The place was mentioned for the first time in 1542, namely "Hans to Leyberghe, Theis his brother and Martin van Leyberch" are mentioned in the Turkish tax lists.

The hamlet of Leiberg belonged to the imperial rule of Gimborn-Neustadt until 1806 . After belonging to the Grand Duchy of Berg (1806-1813) and a provisional transitional administration , the region came to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815 on the basis of the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna . Under the Prussian administration, the place first belonged to the Gimborn district (1816–1825) and then to the Gummersbach district in the Rhine Province . In 1843 Leiberg had 55 inhabitants who lived in 11 houses.
