Oberwipper is a district of Marienheide in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ). Since the place merges almost seamlessly into the community center, it is not regarded as an independent village.

history

Oberwipper was probably built towards the end of the 18th century. Around 1810, the Protestant pastor and historian writes Johann Friedrich Franz of stones about the place: "Under this court after giving Wipper to a Oelmühle builded the Wipper river six years ago, and to be above this court after Singern two powder mills." To At that time there was an oil mill and two powder mills in Oberwipper.

From the last third of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century there was a pump factory and a brickworks in Oberwipper , founded by the mill builder and pump manufacturer Gottlieb Lambach. His pumps were widespread, some even in use until the 1970s.

In 1968 Karl-Friedrich Backhaus founded a car repair shop in Oberwipper, which in 1973 became a Ford contract partner . The workshop has been a Kia authorized dealer since 1994 .

Since 1998, when the last farmer died, there has been no agriculture in the former farming village.
