history
Müllenbach has a long history. Excavations show that there was already a settlement southwest of the later town center in the 9th century . The place was first mentioned in 1174 under the name “Mulenbeke”, when there was talk of a tithing - that is, an interest payment - to the “Vogt Engelbert von Berg”. For over 300 years the knights and junkers of Möllenbick lived in the “Müllenbacher Burghaus”. The name “Mühlenbach” appears in 1841. The current spelling “Müllenbach” can be found on a map of the Gimborn-Neustadt rulership . Even today, old field names, such as the “Moellenbicker Weg”, point to the great history of the place.
The counties used to be divided into " peasant communities " and "parishes". The parish of Müllenbach included the farmers Obermüllenbach, Niedermüllenbach and the manor Gervershagen . From around 1100 Müllenbach was the parish capital. The old constitutions were dissolved at the beginning of the 19th century by Napoleon , who established new administrative units in 1808. The new name was "Mairie Marienheide", and the community leader at the time was called "Maire". From then on there was a local connection to Marienheide.
In the 19th century Müllenbach was best known for its quarries .
