history
First mention
In 1548 the place was mentioned for the first time in a document: "In the lists of the Bergisch Spann- and Schüppendienste, Scharde Hannes, Peter and other conscripts op der Hoye are recorded in the Wipperführer Honschaft".
The spelling of the first mention was op der Hoye .
In Kempershöhe there is one of the oldest still preserved Low German hall houses in the Oberbergischer Kreis (built around 1600). The house is a registered monument and has been largely dismantled by its owners, the Königshofen family, since 1982 at great expense and in accordance with the relevant requirements of monument protection. The ensemble also includes the oldest and largest linden tree in the village, which is still visible today as a protective tree for the house. The house still has two intact firewalls, which in earlier times were the only safe fireplace in the house.
The Bergisch barrel organ museum
In 2008 the Bergisch barrel organ museum was set up at Kapellenweg 2 . A carillon sounds on the north side of the building - changing with the time of day and season.
