Börlinghausen is a village in the municipality of Marienheide in the Oberbergisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .
Location and description
In Börlinghausen lies in a bog like wetlands area the headwaters Wipper, who after nine kilometers the name Wupper bears and Leverkusen in the Rhine flows.
The headwaters are a bit off the road. Here are seven small sources that a 4 ha large slope Quellmoor keep moist. From here the small rivulets form into a spring water. Large swarms of mosquitoes can be found there as well as wild orchids .

The place was mentioned for the first time in 1542 , namely "Styn and other residents of Boerlyhußen are mentioned in the Turkish tax list". The spelling of the first mention was: Boerlychhußen .
Iron ore was mined in Börlinghausen in the 16th century .
