Wegschild Wasserquintett Radweg

The Wasserquintett cycle route is a project of the Regionale 2010 and connects five dams over a total length of 80 km. This intercommunal themed trail deals with the water, natural and cultural history of the reservoir landscape and partly runs on old railway lines .

Signposting

The logo of the cycle route can only be found on the route. It is a green square with 5 blue circles at the top and a stylized river course.

Routing

The tour usually starts at Marienheide train station, but since it is a circular route in the form of an 8, you could of course get on at any point. There are three options:

  • The short round: Marienheide-Brucher-Lingese-Marienheide, 20 km
  • The middle loop: Marienheide-Neye-Bever-Wupper-Marienheide, 60 km
  • The long round: Marienheide-Brucher-Lingese-Neye-Bever-Wupper-Marienheide, 80 km

There are several vertical meters to overcome, but the inclines are moderate.

Detours and variants

The (privately operated) observation tower (45 meters) on the Unnenberg with an altitude of 505.7  m above sea level. NN is the highest point in the Oberbergisches Kreis . The tower allows a panoramic view of the surrounding area, especially the area of ​​the Genkel and Aggertalsperre , both of which are located in the area of ​​the city of Gummersbach . On days with very good visibility, from Dortmund in the north via Schmallenberg in the east, Windeck in the south , the Siebengebirge and Eifel mountains to the west on the Rhine as well as the peaks of Cologne Cathedral can be seen.
