The village of Rönsahl is a rural district of Kierspe in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . Until 1968, Rönsahl formed a municipality in what was then the district of Altena .

geography

The town of Rönsahl is geographically located in the Bergische plateau . The village of Rönsahl is about five kilometers west of the Kiersper town center. In addition to the eponymous village, the village of Rönsahl also includes the small settlements of Becke, Bürhausen, Dörscheln, Glietenberg, Haarbecke, Haarhausen, Meienborn, Mittelheukelbach, Nott, Oberheukelbach, Rönsahler Löh, Rönsahler Wöste and Ufer. In the north the village borders on the reservoir of the Kerspe dam . Until 1815, the south-eastern border point near the court in Dorn formed the triangle with the county of Gimborn and the Duchy of Berg .

history

Rönsahl, first mentioned in a document in 1395, originally belonged to the Altena office of the Grafschaft Mark and since 1817 to the Altena district in the Prussian province of Westphalia . From 1565 to 1753 there was a court in Rönsahl . Later Rönsahl became an important location for powder manufacturing .

On January 1, 1969, the municipality was incorporated into the city of Kierspe by the law on the reorganization of the Altena district and the independent city of Lüdenscheid . By the Cologne Act on January 1, 1975, the town of Meienborn, which had previously been in Oberberg, became part of Rönsahl. In return, some parts of the Rönsahl area moved to the Oberberg community of Marienheide .

Rönsahl is on federal road 237 , which leads from Kierspe to Remscheid , and is connected to the core town of Kierspe by a bus line operated by the Märkische Verkehrsgesellschaft . There is also a bus connection from the Oberbergische Verkehrsgesellschaft to Wipperfürth .
