UltraStar is a free and open source karaoke program in the style of SingStar , which was developed by Corvus5 and SourceForge can be downloaded. You can also create your own songs in UltraStar.
How karaoke works with UltraStar
The user hears the song and at the same time sees the text and a bar indicating the pitch and length. A colored beam shows how you sing yourself and whether you just hit the note or were wrong. There are points for the tones hit, which are added at the end of the song. Depending on how good a user was, in the end he gets a status between "Amateur" and "Rising Star".
Derivatives
As with many other open source projects, there are several derivatives of the program. Particularly noteworthy are UltraStar Deluxe and Performous.
