The Wupperweg is a 125-kilometer hiking trail in North Rhine-Westphalia and leads along the Wupper from its source to its mouth.
The hiking trail marked with the sign Raute-6 was newly created in 2005 by the Bergisch-Land district of the Sauerland Mountain Association in cooperation with the Wupper Association .
Course of the hiking trail
The Wupperweg begins in Börlinghausen at the Wupperquelle and leads from there to the Brucher Dam in northern Marienheide . Along the still young Wupper, the path leads past the Lingesetalsperre to Wipperfürth and from there to the Neyetalsperre . Immediately afterwards the Bevertalsperre and Hückeswagen with the Wuppertalsperre are passed. In a northerly direction, Wilhelmstal and Dahlerau are crossed, and then the southern Wuppertal is crossed on the slope. The Müngsten Bridge and Burg Castle are located behind the Burgholz State Forest . The route continues to Leichlingen (Rhineland) , ending after crossing Leverkusen - Opladen in the outskirts of Rheindorf at the confluence of the Wupper into the Rhine .
