Peffekoven is a village in the municipality of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Peffekoven is located in the southwest of Wipperfürth near the border with Kürten. Neighboring towns are Ommerborn , Neuenhaus , Hollinden , Berghausen and Alfen .

The place belongs to the electoral district 150 and thus to the district of Thier .

A tributary of the Dahlbach flows into the Kürtener Sülz in the south of the village .

history

In 1187 the place was first mentioned under the name "Pepenkhoven" . The liege-taker Theodor von Pepenkhoven is mentioned in a document from that time. The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from the year 1715 shows a farm and describes it with "Peffinghofen" . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1825 shows five separate floor plans under the name "Pefferkofen" on a delimited courtyard. In the Prussian first recording from 1840 the place name is "Pesserkotten" . From the topographic map of the years 1894 to 1896, the place name Peffekoven, which is common today, is used.
