The Kürtener Sülz is the 20.5 km long, northeast and orographically right source river of the Sülz in the Oberbergischen and Rheinisch-Bergisch district in North Rhine-Westphalia . Some consider it a tributary of the Sülz.
geography
course
The Kürtener Sülz rises about 2.5 km southwest of Wipperfürth near the Erlen district and initially flows mainly in a south-westerly direction. After flowing through the villages of Wipperfeld , Ahe and Jörgensmühle , it crosses the border with the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis. Behind Junkermühle the river is dammed into a small lake, from which the transfer tunnel to the Great Dhünntalsperre branches off.
About 3 km further downstream it reaches Kürten . Here the course of the Kürtener Sülz now turns south and passes Waldmühle , Broich , Eichhof and Sülze . Behind Sülze, the river loops. A short distance further, the Kürtener Sülz unites near Hommerich at 126 m above sea level. NN with the Lindlarer Sülz to Sülz. On its way from the source to the mouth, the Kürtener Sülz loses 165 meters in altitude, which corresponds to an average bed gradient of 8.4 ‰.
