The Wipperfürth district became part of the Rheinisch-Bergisch district on October 1, 1932, with its seat in Bergisch Gladbach .

In 1975 the current municipality of Kürten was established on the basis of the Cologne Act , to which, in addition to the offices of Kürten, Bechen and Olpe, a sub-area of the city of Bensberg with Dürscheid and the surrounding areas was added.

The forest mill

The forest mill on the Kalsbach was a relatively young watermill . The completely preserved grinding aisles with richly decorated hand-made paper and the massive oak grinding floor of the mill built in 1862 are still located inside the bakery and restaurant, which was modernized in 1978. The Kalsbach still flows through the ice house today.

The mill has been owned by the Herweg family since 1897 . It was passed through a 6 meter large water wheel driven from iron, which was installed in 1948 by the Bauer mill Holler. The water wheel drove two grinding gears (one for wheat flour , one for grist ) via a crown gear ; alternatively, an electric motor could also be switched on via an angular gear and transmission . The mill was still in operation until 1978.
