Location of Jähhardt in Kürten

Jähhardt is a residential area in the municipality of Kürten in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

Location and description

Jähhardt is located off the national roads on Calenberger Weg between the districts of Calenberg and Oberberg on the southwestern edge of Kürten near the urban area of Bergisch Gladbach . It is divided into a closed area and a somewhat secluded courtyard in the direction of the Dürscheider Hut .

The name Jähhardt is derived from Hardt , an old form for forest and abrupt (steep), i.e. the steeply sloping forest. In dialect one speaks of op dr Jähhardt .

history

From the Charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 by Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking shows that Jähhardt of at that time part of the parish Dürscheid was. Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813, the Porz office was dissolved and the parish Dürscheid, to which Jähhardt also belonged, was politically assigned to the Mairie Bensberg in the Mülheim am Rhein arrondissement . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Bensberg in the Mülheim am Rhein district . In 1845 Jähhardt had two residents of Catholic faith. Jähhardt belonged to the parish and honor of Dürscheid . This is a bit strange, as the two neighboring towns to the left and right of the path, Calenberg and Oberberg, both belonged to the parish of Kürten.

In the list of the Kingdom of Prussia for the 1885 census, Jähhardt was listed as a place to live in the rural community of Bensberg in the Mülheim am Rhein district. At that time eleven houses with 44 inhabitants were counted. From the  Prussian new admission  from 1893-1896, the place is  regularly recorded as  Jähhardt on  measuring table sheets  .

Due to the Cologne Act , the municipality of Kürten was merged with the previously independent municipalities of Bechen and Olpe and parts of the city of Bensberg to form the municipality of Kürten with effect from January 1, 1975 . Jähhardt also became part of the municipality of Kürten.
