Ahlendung is a place to live in the municipality of Kürten in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

history

Ahlendung emerged as a scattered settlement in the second half of the 19th century . The municipality and district statistics of the Rhine Province lists Ahlendung 1871 with ten houses and 43 inhabitants. From the Prussian re-recording of 1893-1896 the place is on Ordnance Survey regularly as Ahlen extension listed.

In the list of the Kingdom of Prussia for the 1885 census, Ahlendung was listed as a place to live in the rural community of Kürten in the Wipperfürth district. At that time ten houses with 41 inhabitants were counted. In 1895 the place had ten houses with 56 inhabitants, in 1905 ten houses and 49 inhabitants are given and belonged denominationally to the Catholic parish of Biesfeld .

The name Ahlen means narrow , "dong" comes from "donk", which means something like embankment. In dialect one speaks of op d'r dong .
