The must in. Jana Pawła II ( John Paul II Bridge ) is the first single-hip cable - stayed bridge in Gdańsk , built between 1999 and 2001. It forms the heart of the Sucharski route and connects Port Północny ( north port ) and the Deepwater Container Terminal on Wyspa Portowa ( harbor island ) via the S7 with the Polish expressway network. It is named after the Polish Pope John Paul II (pontificate 1978–2005, canonized in 2014).
description
The road bridge is 380 meters long, has two lanes in each direction and one lane for pedestrian and bicycle traffic. The construction of the cable-stayed bridge with a mixed system, suspended on a 100 meter high pylon , is supported by 30 steel cables. The pylon is on the southern bank of the Vistula. The reinforced concrete composite bridge was built by Demathieu et Bard (France) and the Polish Mosty-Lódz SA.
Others
During its construction, the bridge was still called Most Trzeciego Tysiąclecia ( Bridge of the Third Millennium ). In order to prevent damage from vandalism and graffiti , the bridge has been monitored by the nearest police station since 2004.
Another cable-stayed bridge over the Vistula is the Świętokrzyski Bridge in Warsaw .
