The Church of All Saints in Dolní Bučice is a Roman Catholic branch church in Okres Kutná Hora in the Czech Republic . The late classical building from the middle of the 19th century is protected as a cultural monument.

location

The church, surrounded by a wall and green space, is located in the old village square of Dolní Bučice on Tylova ulice. Originally there was a cemetery around the church, but it was later closed and a new cemetery was created outside the village on the road to Druhanice .

history

The previous Gothic building, built in the 13th century by the Benedictine monastery Vilémov and first mentioned in writing as a parish church in 1307 , was used until 1822. After that, the church, which was in danger of collapsing, was closed for security reasons. The parish Dolní Bučice no longer existed at that time; the church belonged as a branch church to the parish of Chotusitz . In 1851 the owner of the Žehušice manor , Joseph Oswald von Thun and Hohenstein, had the old church demolished.

On May 22nd, 1852 the foundation stone was laid for the construction of a late Classicist church according to plans by the Žehušice master builder Jan Jelínek. The four harmoniously coordinated bells from the tower of the old church were taken over. The church was consecrated in 1864. In 1869 the church was elevated to a parish church.

In 1916 the bells of St. Paul (1590) and St. John and Paul (1736) were requisitioned as war metal.

In 1962 and 1963 the painter Vojmír Vokolek decorated the church with wall frescoes.

Today the Church of All Saints is a branch church of the parish of Čáslav.

description

The east-facing , single-nave building with a three-dimensional facade has a polygonal choir . The church tower with portal is built in front of the west side of the ship.

A figural Renaissance grave plaque of Niklas Wostrowsky von Skalitz († 1613), which comes from the old church, is embedded in the outer wall of the choir. The four bells were also taken over from the old church, but the two younger ones were lost in 1916 due to requisitions . The oldest - St. Wenceslas - was cast in 1506 by Ondřej Žáček in Königgrätz . The St. John's bell dates from 1556 and was donated to the church by the miller of the Red Mill ; Weighing eight pounds, it was the largest of the four bells.

Most of the interior of the church dates from the time it was built. The main altar was designed by the director of the Čáslav secondary school, Josef Spudil; There are two baroque wood carvings of the Virgin Mary and St. John from the first half of the 18th century. The neo-Gothic pulpit was also made according to Spudil's plans. The side altars are designed in the pseudo-baroque style. The neo-Gothic confessional was designed by the Žehušice architect Josef Míča. The representations of the Cross on canvas were made in 1930 as a reproduction of an original by Kaspar Schleibner .

The wall frescoes by Vojmír Vokolek with mostly Old Testament depictions of Adam, Eve, Abel, Abraham and Isaac in the choir are accompanied by saints from the New Testament standing around. The triumphal arch shows in the middle the chalice with the blood and body of Christ, on the sides the archangels Gabriel and Raphael. The mural on the pulpit shows St. Joseph with Christ as a helper. In the ship, Vokolek created four Christological scenes of the mass feeding in the desert .
