Location of Ahlen in Kürten

Ahlen is a residential area in the municipality of Kürten in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

history

The Ahlen farm was first mentioned in 1363 as de Alen . The place name means “narrow space between two houses” , “narrow footpath” , “narrow wedge-shaped field” , “parts of the district that have a ravine-like location” .

Carl Friedrich von Wiebeking names the court on his charter of the Duchy of Berg in 1789 as Alen , but has marked the place in the wrong place further east. From it it emerges, however, that the local area was part of the Kollenbach community in the parish of Kürten at that time .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 as Aalen . The Prussian first recording from 1844 shows the residential area under the name Ahlen . From the Prussian new admission from 1893-1896, the place is regularly recorded as Ahlen on measuring table sheets .

Under the French administration between 1806 and 1813, the Steinbach office was dissolved and Ahlen was politically assigned to the Mairie Kürten in the canton of Wipperfürth . In 1816 the Prussians converted the Mairie to the mayor's office in Kürten in the Wipperfürth district . In 1822 50 people lived in the place categorized as a courtyard , for the year 1830 54 inhabitants are given. In 1845 Ahlen had seven houses and 44 residents of Catholic faith.

The local and Gutbezirksstatistik the Rhine Province leads Ahlen 1871 with 7 houses and 46 residents. In the list of the Kingdom of Prussia for the 1885 census, Ahlen was listed as the residential area of the rural community Kürten in the Wipperfürth district. At that time there were 7 houses with 27 residents. In 1895 the place had 5 houses with 30 inhabitants and belonged denominationally to the Catholic parish of Biesfeld , in 1905 7 houses and 30 inhabitants were given.
