Canton of Wipperfürth
The canton of Wipperfürth was a canton in the Elberfeld arrondissement in the Rhine department from 1807 to 1813.
history
After the establishment of the Grand Duchy of Berg in 1806, the grand-ducal administration set about organizing the country according to the administrative structures known in France in October 1807 . The old structures and offices - including the Steinbach office - were dissolved. The Bergische national territory was divided into departments , arrondissements , cantons and Mairien .
The canton of Wipperfürth was divided into the Mairien Klüppelberg , Kürten , Olpe and Wipperfürth . After the collapse of Napoleonic rule, the arrondissements and cantons were dissolved. The four mairies of the canton continued to exist as mayors in the Prussian district of Wipperfürth .
