Theodor van de Sandt

Karl Theodor Maria van de Sandt (born November 12, 1900 in Griethausen , † September 25, 1982 in Esslingen ) was a German politician and district administrator .

Life

Origin and family

Theodor van de Sandt was born as the second of seven children to the married couple Joannes Alexander Richard van de Sandt (1863–1907) and Helene Baumann (1866–1929). His parents ran a small farm. His brother Heinrich was a member of the Reichstag. On August 10, 1935, Theodor married Maria Wambach in Düsseldorf. The marriage had three children.

Career

After graduating from high school Wipperfurth van de Sandt studied at the Universities of Bonn , Freiburg and Münster law . In 1922, first as a trainee lawyer, then in 1926 as a court assessor at the Düsseldorf District Court, Theodor van de Sandt moved to the Kassel Police Headquarters . In June 1928 he was transferred to the Wiesbaden police headquarters. In February 1929 he was employed by the association president of the Ruhr coal district settlement association in Essen.

On July 15, 1930, he was transferred to the general state administration and the Prussian Building and Finance Directorate in Berlin. A year later he moved to the Arnsberg government and then to the Soest and Arnsberg district offices. On October 4, 1933, he was appointed to represent the administration of the Meschede District Office and on November 1, 1933, he was promoted to the government council.

On March 19, 1934 he was appointed provisional district administrator in Meschede and already on leave after a month, he was transferred to the Hanover government on June 2, 1934 . At the end of 1939 he was seconded to the government in Zichenau (Ciechanow) and transferred to the Königsberg government in June 1940 . On April 1, 1941, van de Sandt joined the Stade government and was drafted into the Wehrmacht at the same time.

On January 8, 1942, he became head of the Reich Defense Department in Stade and from May 28 to June 14, 1945 deputy district administrator in Stade. In the denazification process , van de Sandt was initially classified in category 4 (mild case). The category 5 classification made in Düsseldorf was withdrawn. In 1950 he was a member of the board of directors in Düsseldorf and retired on August 1, 1951.

He was a member of the center . In 1933 he joined the SA and on May 1, 1937 the NSDAP .

Since 1919 he was a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Ripuaria Bonn .
