The Royal Signals Museum ( German  Royal News Museum ) is a museum for communications technology with a focus on military radio technology and military intelligence . It was reopened in its current form in 1997 and is located in Blandford Camp at Blandford Forum in the English county of Dorset .

history

The museum in its modern form was established in May 28, 1997. After his predecessor in the 1930s in Catterick (county North Yorkshire had been), and it was moved to its present location in 1967, it was for a 1989 Rebuilding and new construction started in its current modern form and reopened in 1997.

Exhibitions

The museum shows various interactive exhibitions and offers special educational trails especially for younger visitors. It houses the British national collection of military communication technology from the past almost 200 years and presents the history of wired and wireless communication technology and the associated encryption technology in a lively way . Special exhibits are a German Enigma key machine and the British rotor cipher machines Typex and Portex .
