Kotzberg is a residential area in the municipality of Kürten in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

The place is north of the federal highway 506 between Eisenkaul and the Great Dhünntalsperre .

history

Kotzberg was first mentioned in 1449 as Kuxberg and around 1450 as Kuckesberch . The appellative in the place name is easy to recognize Berg , the defining word possibly goes back to the bird species cuckoo .

The place is recorded on the topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 as Koezberg and on the Prussian first survey of 1840 as Kotzberg . From the Prussian new admission in 1892, it is regularly recorded as Kotzberg on measuring table sheets .

In 1822, nine people lived in the place categorized as a courtyard and called Kotzberg . At that time Kotzberg belonged to the municipality of Bechen. The place categorized as a courtyard according to the overview of the government district of Cologne in 1845 had a residential building at that time. At that time, twelve residents lived in the place called Kotzberg, all of them of Catholic faith.
