Helmut Geuking

Helmut Geuking (born January 16, 1964 in Coesfeld ) is a German politician from Billerbeck . He has been the federal chairman of the German Family Party since 2017 and a member of the European Parliament since 2019 .

As a nursing manager, he founded the company Humanitas Münsterland and the association Humanitas Gemeinschaft e. V. for the care and supply of elderly and sick people. Geuking has been a correctional officer since 1985 . In the 2019 European elections , he received a mandate as a member of the European Parliament for the German family party .

Political career

From WASG to SG-NRW

After 17 years of membership in the SPD, Helmut Geuking switched to the WASG and built it up in the Coesfeld district. As a former district chairman of the WASG Coesfeld, he did not join the Left Party like the WASG in 2007 , but founded the Social Justice - North Rhine-Westphalia party in 2008 . In 2009 he was elected to the city council of Billerbeck for SG-NRW.

Family party since 2012

In 2012 he joined the Family Party of Germany with his party. In October 2013 Helmut Geuking was elected chairman of the German Family Party in North Rhine-Westphalia. He held this office until May 2016. In 2014 he was re-elected to the city council. In the 2015 mayoral election in Billerbeck, Helmut Geuking achieved 3.3%. At the federal party congress from 19./20. November 2016 Helmut Geuking was elected deputy chairman. After the resignation of the previous federal chairman, he took over the post on a provisional basis in accordance with the statutes on May 9, 2017. In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2017 , Helmut Geuking ran as a direct candidate in the state electoral district of Coesfeld I - Borken III . He got 0.4% of the first votes.

At a federal party conference on 14./15. April 2018 Helmut Geuking was elected as the top candidate of the family party for the European elections in Germany 2019 . At the federal party conference on 29./30. September 2018 he was confirmed as federal chairman.

MEP

In the 2019 European elections in Germany, Helmut Geuking was the top candidate for his party's seat in the European Parliament. In the European Parliament, Geuking joined the group of European Conservatives and Reformists .
