Title of the weekly newspaper of the Coesfeld, Borken, Ahaus districts from 1834

The Allgemeine Zeitung is a German daily newspaper. It is published by J. Fleißig in Coesfeld and Rosendahl .

history

In 1834 the Allgemeine Zeitung (AZ Coesfeld) was founded. On July 5th the first issue of the weekly newspaper of the districts Coesfeld, Borken, Ahaus appeared as a forerunner of the AZ. Announcements and non-political reports predominantly determined the content of the weekly newspaper, which since 1841 was only responsible for the Coesfeld and Ahaus districts. The censorship in Vormärz was exercised by the school director of the Nepomucenum , Bernhard Sökeland , on behalf of the royal Prussian administration in Münster. The weekly newspaper received the addition of Coesfelder Kreisblatt in 1859. Twenty years later, the newspaper was redesigned into a political newspaper: Allgemeine Zeitung - Anzeiger für Coesfeld and Ahaus . The title Coesfelder Kreisblatt was retained.

In 1889 the Vredener Anzeiger , the Stadtlohner Volksblatt and the Gescherer Zeitung were merged with the Coesfelder Kreisblatt . The Coesfelder Kreisblatt appeared three times a week. The first typesetting machine was installed in 1906, and in 1910 the AZ appeared four times a week for the first time.

The J. Fleißig publishing house played a key role in founding the Zeno newspaper publishing company Nordwestdeutschland mbH in Münster in 1922 . This is an amalgamation of publishers from the Munsterland region with the aim of joint production of the jacket and printing. The local independence of the twelve founding publishers is to be retained. The newspaper gets the national pages from the Westfälische Nachrichten in Münster.

In 1972 the publishing house bought the Billerbecker Anzeiger in Billerbeck and Darup ( Nottuln municipality ) and the Gescherer Zeitung in Gescher . The publisher had been editorially responsible for Billerbecker Anzeiger, founded in 1874, since 1949. Until 1979 the newspaper was produced in lead type , which was replaced by photo typesetting .

The Allgemeine Zeitung appears in Coesfeld and Rosendahl, the Billerbecker Anzeiger in Billerbeck and Darup (Nottuln municipality) and the Gescherer Zeitung in Gescher.

Management: Nina Ross and Detlev Ross.

Since 2015, all titles have also been published as e-papers and with their own app.
