Berrenberg is a court in the municipality of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ). The village belongs to the district Agathaberg .

Location and description

The place is located in a valley right on the city limits to Lindlar . Neighboring places are Hintermühle , Vordermühle , Dellweg , Bengelshagen , Niederholl and Wingenbach . It can be reached via Kreisstraße 18, a junction between Niederholl and Bengelshagen, which then continues to Hintermühle, leads to the place.

The Wingenbacher Siefen, a source river of the Lindlarer Sülz , rises north of Berrenberg. The Holler Siepen, which also flows into the Sülz, runs to the east. The Heiberg is north of the village.

Berrenberg is one of 49 localities that belong to the Agathaberg school district .

Agriculture

Like many hamlets and places in the immediate vicinity, Berrenberg is characterized by agriculture . The withering away of the smaller farms since the second half of the 20th century can also be observed in this place.

There used to be three farms in Berrenberg. In 1985 the first courtyard was closed and the house is now used as a tenement house. In 2003 the second farm also closed. In February 2004 , the milk cows on the third farm were sold and milk production stopped.

The seven kilometer long circular route A2 Dohrgaul (Dohrgaul - Hahnenberg - Wingenbach - Berrenberg - Hintermühle - Kahlscheuer - Dohrgaul) runs through the village.

Berrenberg belongs to constituency 142 according to the district electoral district division of the Oberbergischer Kreis. Friedhelm Scherkenbach (CDU) won the electoral district and thus represents the place in the council of the city of Wipperfürth.
