Oberröttenscheid is a village in Wipperfürth in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

The village is located in the north of Wipperfürth between the Bevertalsperre and the Neyetalsperre on the city limits of Hückeswagen . Neighboring towns are Niederröttenscheid , Elberhausen and Niederlangenberg . The Fürweger Bach flows in the west and the Oberröttenscheider Bach rises in the east of the village .

Politically, the place is represented by the direct candidate from electoral district 10 (100) Neye and Felderhof in the council of the city of Wipperfürth.

history

Röttenscheid was first mentioned in 1410. A certificate from this year shows that the mayor in Eckenhoven, among other things, also receives income from “Ruttenscheide” . The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 shows three courtyards and denotes them with “o. Rüttenschdt " . In the map topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1825, the place name "Rotterscheid" is written. From the Prussian first recording from 1840 to 1844, the name commonly used today “Ob. Röttenscheid ”is used.
